AT YFANWEN The photo is of Yfanwen and shows the private nature of the 18 1/2 acres of bush, of which only a portion is shown here. A pathway under the canopy leads for nearly 2 kilometres to Aucks Road. The house (hidden by bush in this view) is to the left of the bright green patch on the left of the photo and overlooks the Veronica Channel. The beach in the foreground is Pipiroa Bay. YFANWEN - pronounced "if-an'-when" - is near the Far North town of Russell, in New Zealand's picturesque Bay of Islands. It is in Okiato, just across the water from Opua, off State Highway 1 and about 220 kilometers north of Auckland. Russell is part of a 'Land Island' nature reserve - listen to the Kiwis calling at night, and Pukakos and Tuis around you in the surrounding bush by day when you are staying in Yfanwen.
YFANWEN is an early New Zealand 'Lockwood' timber house, built back from a low cliff and adjacent to tranquil Pipiroa Bay. The house overlooks the Veronica Channel with views to the north as far as Paihia and Waitangi. The property is beachfront with 4.5 hectares (18 1/2 acres) of low hills and pasture, footpaths and two adjacent, shallow, safe swimming beaches. For evenings-in there is Sky TV, including the four main Sky-Movies channels. The home is safe for small children under supervision and is in general ideal for a family holiday. Pets are welcome at Yfanwen.
