Yfanwen is very well adapted for children and pets and all are welcome. The house is at the coastal end of 4.5 hectares (18 1/2 acres) of hills and valleys with pasture, pinetrees and wetland. It is bordered by our neighbours, Jan and Beryl Boerop who operate Wairoro Park and for many years included Yfanwen in their accomodation. They have been our friends for over twenty years and road access to Yfanwen is by their courtesy. In return they graze cattle on our pasture; those sleeping in the bunk room may awaken to the sights and sounds of cattle gazing nearby. The pasture is well protected and when the cows are in they offer no threat. The house is half way down a low hill. It has a small lawn which is well fenced and gated, and the drive climbs from the house with a cattlestop at the top; thus it is safe for small children under supervision and the home in general is ideal for a family holiday. Pets are welcome at Yfanwen. There is a boatshed with a small shingle beach at the foot of the hill below the house, and that gives access to Pipiroa Bay without wading from about 2 hours after high tide until 1 1/2 hours before the next high tide - an 8 1/2 hour window. Water is from a well near the boatshed and from here it is pumped up to a gravity tank at the top of the hill, above the house.
There are inumerable places for private picnicking both close to and distant from the house, amongst the pines and overlooking the sea. Jan and Beryl very kindly allow people to use their adjacent sandy beach for swimming and boating, however guests must walk to the beach and not use their vehicles - directions are supplied at Yfanwen. Pets are welcome at Wairoro Park also.
